Alles anzeigenHello,
first, sorry that I write in English but Ich sprache Deutsch nich viel gut. I read the forum thru Google translator.
For two years since I have since I bought my 2001 Tmax 500 I have been trying to resolve this problem - a delay or hesitation on throttle response - however do you call it. Sometimes it began at 80km/h, sometimes at 100km/h. Last year I did fiddle with mixture screws, idle RPM, to no avail. But then somewhat the problem got better "for some reason" it was present only at about 110-120 km/h and more. This spring I decided to give the bike a good ultrasonund carb cleaning. When disassembled, the carb did not look very dirty at all. Also the membranes and everything else was OK. We did not change the mixture or idle speed. The bike also got new 15Gr. Dr. Pulley weights (I bought my Tmax with 13.5G Malossi weights.
But when I ride from the service garage, the problem with throttle delay was back! And now already at 60-70km/h it was clearly noticeable. So I decided to put every effort to it. And I was lucky - FINALLY my Tmax reacts to throttle faster than ever!
So what was the problem?
The CARB VENT HOSE!
Service manual says, in the "Poor performance in Medium and High Speed" section that one of the reasons for this is
"Bent, clogged or disconnected carb air vent hose"
Well, my hose was not Bent, clogged or disconnected. But actually I noticed that many users here on the forum are wondering where this hose should end. So mine was just lying on the carbs and ended somewhere in front of the fuel tank. I searched the service manual and noticed that it is actually very hard to find out how it should be routed. I mean the upper end from the Tee. (The lower end serves as an overflow hose and ends tied on the frame near the heatsink with the end left with a very small hole.)
The manual says to "Insert the air vent hose through the hole on the left side of the frame bracket."
But I did not find and hole in the frame bracket that the hose would fit into. So I just routed it down below the big central tube to the space above the carbs. And voilla! Now my Tmax is cured and I enjoy its driving as never before. Finally! After 2 years
I just wanted to share this knowledge for everyone who suffers from this problem.
Maybe you can help me find that hose.
I like to check if in my case that hose is where it should be.
I have the same issues with the performance like the others.
